This map shows by acreage burned the worst wildfire year since 2010 across the U.S. Clearly, wildfire is not getting worse everywhere.
According to the data, 2020 was the worst year for only seven states; 2011 was the worst for 17 states.
This illustrates that wildfire isn’t just a West Coast issue. It never was. Oklahoma ranks in the top five worst states for wildfire and lost 2.8 million acres to wildfire in 2011.
